Treco Now Installing Solar PV
Treco, a leader in commercial biomass heating solutions, is pleased to announce an expansion into commercial solar photovoltaic (PV) energy, complementing its existing biomass boiler services. As a company, Treco has long supported solar as a tremendous technology to help businesses reduce their carbon emissions. Prior to promoting the technology ourselves, we had a 30kW array installed in 2022 and have been striving to switch our cars from fossil fuels to electric where possible. We have been so pleased with the CO2 and financial savings that we have become solar installers. Our policy, as with biomass heating, is to offer honest advice and ensure that the client understands the benefits and drawbacks of solar PV and battery storage.
Project Analysis
Treco is committed to ensuring that our clients are not misled regarding CO2 and financial savings. During our search to purchase a solar system, the company was presented with figures that were misleading and did not truly provide the information needed to financially appraise the investment. Our team believes what sets us apart is not the technology but the ability to understand the requirements of the client and to offer a solution that best meets their needs.
Is Solar PV Right for My Business?
The answer is maybe. The factors we would explore include:
- Can you connect a solar system to the 'grid' in your location?
- Do you have a significant demand for electricity on your site?
- What price are you paying for electricity?
- What is the profile of your current electricity use?
- Do you have roof space suitable for solar?
- Does your electricity supplier offer a generous export price for excess energy generated?
- What ROI is acceptable for the business to choose to invest?
These are just a few of the questions that need to be considered; the answer to the question is seldom a simple yes.
Is Battery Storage Right for My Business?
While battery storage is a wonderful technology bound to become more important as battery prices reduce, developments in battery chemistry will see lithium replaced with cheaper chemicals such as sodium, which will make projects that are difficult to justify at current battery prices viable in the future. The ROI for battery storage includes many of the factors listed above, but it is unusual to find battery storage as financially attractive as the solar system without batteries.
Treco are also MCS certified. While MCS certification isn't legally required for solar panel installations, it is necessary to qualify for the Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) - a financial incentive for exporting solar energy. This requirement ensures high industry standards and protects consumers investing in solar technology.
Treco endeavours to deliver helpful support to ensure clients receive exactly what has been agreed upon. Our company philosophy is for our team to only sell what we would buy ourselves if we were in that position. If this sounds like what you are looking for, give us a call!
