It's exactly a month today before you will have to comply by the Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) that has been established by the UK government as a response to Article 8 (4-6) of the European Union's Energy Efficiency Directive (2012/27/EU). The main aim of the scheme is to cut carbon emissions by ensuring large businesses identify energy reduction measures and make energy savings.
Organisations that qualify for ESOS must carry out ESOS assessments every four years. These assessments are audits of the energy used by their buildings, industrial processes and transport to identify cost-effective energy saving measures.
Failure to comply by completing a compliance assessment by December 5, 2015 will be in breach of the regulations and at risk of enforcement action and penalties.
