The installation

Treco installed a new 1MW Froling Lambdamat biomass boiler for a site in Somerset. This was a waste to energy system where waste wood produced on site is used to feed the boiler to provide space heating to multiple buildings as well as a to a kiln for process heat to dry wooden products.

Along with the biomass boiler our scope of works included; full plantroom installation, 20,000 litre thermal store, downstream heating system for space heating in buildings, 1MW drying system for wooden products, and a ceramic filter to keep particulate matter emissions to the lowest possible level.

In this instance the customer opted for walking floor fuel delivery system that was not provided by Froling. It was important to ensure that this was integrated correctly with the Froling boiler, so that the right volumes of wood chip were delivered to the boiler. This ensures that the boiler is able to produce the right kWh output as required.

Through the RHI payments alone the whole project will likely be paid off in approximately 4 years, though with the fuel and disposal savings factored in it will see this period reduce significantly

By utilising their own waste wood its estimated that the company will save 375 tonnes of CO₂ per annum, helping them to progress towards achieving goals set out in their Environmental & Sustainability Policy.

More details on this specific biomass boiler used on this installation can be found on the Froling Lambdamat page, with further details of our entire range available through the biomass boilers page.
