The installation

Treco relocated a redundant Kalvis 720kW biomass boiler, giving it a new lease for life on a site in West Wales. This was a waste to energy system where waste wood produced on site is used to feed the boiler to provide space heating to multiple buildings as well as drying floor for wood chip and a kiln for process heat to dry wooden products.

In this instance the customer opted for a new containerised walking floor fuel delivery system that was provided by Kalvis. This ensures easy integration and that the right volumes of wood chip are delivered to the boiler for optimum running.

Through the RHI payments alone the whole project will likely be paid off in approximately 3 years, though with the fuel savings factored in it will see this period reduce significantly

By utilising their own waste wood its estimated that the company will save 725 tonnes of CO₂ per annum, helping them to progress towards achieving goals set out in their Environmental & Sustainability Policy.

More details on relocating biomass boilers can be read on our second hand biomass boiler page, with further details of our range of new systems available through the biomass boilers page.
