The installation

Treco relocated a redundant biomass boiler from a site in the North of England to it's new home in West Sussex, giving the boiler a new lease for life heating glasshouses. This enabled the new owner to switch from gas and benefit from sustainable process heat from locally sourced wood chip.

In this instance the customer opted for having a walking floor fuel delivery system which Treco designed and installed using a different manufacturer. It was important to ensure that this was integrated correctly with the Herz boiler, so that the right volumes of wood chip were delivered to the boiler. This ensures that the boiler is able to produce the right kWh output as required.

Through the RHI payments alone the whole project will likely be paid off in approximately 4 years, with the fuel savings as well as increased value of end products further increasing the ROI.

By switching to sustainable wood chips our client also saves around 450 tonnes of CO₂ per annum, helping them to progress towards achieving goals set out in their Environmental & Sustainability Policy.

More details on relocating biomass boilers can be read on our second hand biomass boiler page, with further details of our range of new systems available through the biomass boilers page.
